I’m still getting ready for the start of TeamLeague 59, which starts March 31^st can’t wait to get some 45 45 action going :)

Working on the English, I tend to play one of two ways, against 1… e5 I play 2 e4 stopping me from fianchettoing the bishop on g2 but allowing me to guard c4 with the bishop.  Then bring out the knight to f3 Be2 and Be3 or Bg4 to force Be7.  But let’s see how this game turned out J  I will do the next game tomorrow.

[#] 1.c4 e5 2.Nc3 d6 3.e4 I play this a lot, it doesn’t seem too sound only 221 games in my database have played this move with only a 40% win chance for white. The higher rated players (2450 +) in this opening are playing black and usually win these games, this does not seem to be a sound decision in higher rated play but I have had some success as white against lower rated players. All things being considered I need to find a better way to combat 2 e5. 3...Nf6 4.d3 Here, my idea is to play Nf3 then Be2 after Bg4 4...Be7 5.Nf3 Bg4 6.Be2 Nc6 7.h3 With his pawns on the dark squares I am really happy to exchange the light squared bishops or in this case trade it for a Knight. 7...Bxf3 8.Bxf3 Nd4 9.Be3 Nc6 10.Nd5 I made this move almost immediately thing that we would trade out the Knights, and I would have the Bishop pair against his Knight and Bishop 10...Qd7 11.g4 Here I am prepping a minority attack on the king side, which he stops with h6, which is what i had expected, then I plan to move the queen to the queenside to force some weakening moves. 11...h6 12.Qb3 O-O-O 13.h4 Kb8 14.O-O-O Nxg4 This move shocked me I thought he was going to go Nxd5 cxd5 Na5 then Qc3 or Qa3 and I am unclear on how this would go. However, Nxg4 Nxe7 Nxe3 Nxc6+ Qxe6 fxe3 and white is up an entire piece. 15.Nxe7 Nxe3

[15...Nxe7 16.Bxg4 Qxg4 Here i think black has a solid advantage (stockfish says -.50 so not overwhelming) because i dont really have a plan except Rdg1 Qf3 Qd1 and exchange queens and play the rook endgame a pawn down. probably not going to win.]
